Erik Bedard
Born: March 5, 1979
Birthplace: Naven, Ontario
Bats: Left
Throws: Left
Height: 6'1
Weight: 186 lbs
Position: Starting Pitcher
Notes: Erik Bedard was drafted in the 6th Round in the 1999 MLB draft, selected by the Baltimore Orioles.
Based on his last two seasons, Erik is considered to be one of the best, young pitchers in the game, and perhaps already is among the best Left-Handers. Before an injury cut his 2007 campaign to only 28 starts, Erik was a front runner to win the American League Cy Young Award, given annunally to the Best Pitcher. He had a record of 13-5 and was leading the entire league in strikeouts. He finished the year with 221 K's in only 182 Innings Pitched, and finished 5th in Cy Young voting.
With the owners of the Baltimore Orioles attempting to rebuild, they decided to trade Erik Berard to the Seattle Mariners for top prospect OF Adam Jones, George Sherrill and 3 other minor league players.
